The art of quickening is quite fast, it can take you by storm, it can take you by surprise, it can take you anywhere it wants you to go that you want to go.
When you are in an acting frame of mind, or an acting emotion of joy comes upon you, the quickening is right there next to you. It is at that very moment that you step out of the whirled's point of view and more deeply enter your own. You are beside your Self.
What place to be. Beside your Self with joy, beside your Self with happiness, beside your Self with love, compassion, creativity. It isn't Kansas anymore.
The vastness of the quickening is within every single individual moment, and the quickening is faster, by far, than the whirled.
To studio and artistic life is to be forever stepping into the quickening and letting go of the whirled's point of. There's that dangling participle again, hanging over the edge of the abyss of the whirled's curl-tailed language of clip and cut, snip and stuff.
Be a quickening. Be newness. Be wonderfully alive to the moment where color, line, shape, and texture come upon you while you where looking!
